New Build & Refurbishment

New buildings. Planned upgrades.
Design energy in early.

Consider building-integrated generation while material choices, dimensions and technical interfaces can still be coordinated.

Project decisions

Start with the building.

BIPV concept with clear architectural glazing and refined façade proportions
Concept / Coordinated building envelope

New build

Discuss suitable envelope zones before grids, glass specifications, risers and inverter spaces are fixed. Align architecture and electrical design from the outset.

Concept / Staged glazing and a contained work area

Planned refurbishment

Compare replacement materials on the same performance basis. Check existing structure, access, weather protection and how work will be staged.

Concept / Existing envelope and surrounding shade

Existing façade, no replacement planned

First assess whether intervention is justified. Roof PV or another site option may be more practical than replacing serviceable glazing.

Assessment scope

Make the next step useful.

Record the reference building-material option, candidate BIPV zones, evidence needed, responsibilities and the next design decision before treating a concept as an approved solution.
